Sad Time for Jack Denham's Family

It is with great regret to inform all readers that Jack has been moved into pallative care. Our thoughts are with Mrs Denham, Allan,Joy and Sandra atthis stressful time.

Thanks Dodger for letting us know. Jack Denham, one of the real old timers and I think a keen betting stable in the old days particularly when I was vitally interested and when racing was highly "colourful". It was great to see him get that great horse Might and Power, definitely one of my absolute favourites. Of course I have no link at all with the family but like many others I am thinking of them and of course Jack.

Jack passed away today. There would be plenty of stories to be told by him in the years gone by, including his hate relationship with the media. He could be a cranky old b******* alot of the time, but he was the first one to put his hand in his pocket to help someone out. He used to come to the dogs when Allan had a runner with a chance-put his $400.00 on, collect, then go straight out the gate. It wouldn't surprise me to see Allan give the training away now. He always used to say he was only staying there, doing those long hours because of his Dad. And he knew he would be there a long time because the only way Jack would give it away was to pass away in the stables. Who could forget Might and Power and that Melbourne Cup. A lot of u wouldn't know that M&P was Jack's second stringer for that race.I cant remember its name, i think it started with the letter Y, but it broke down days before the race.He raced so many champions over the yearsand he will be sorely missed by all especially his family.

And to top this terrible day off for Allan,we had to give him the sad news that his handy dog - Bells Pace had to be scratched from the Hobart Thousand Final on Thursday with what looks like a career ending injury.

So long Jack, you have been one true champion
yourself..............
