Greyhounds Catch Lure

Thought this would be interesting to share. It's from a Tassie race where the greyhounds manage to catch the lure.

I'm trying to see if there's any news about what will happen in the Stewards report (nothing on the main page of the Tassie racing website) but the website is being a prick and taking forever to load.

EDIT: Finally got it to work.

Quote:

This event was declared a no race when the lure broke down approaching the home turn. All greyhounds were subject to a veterinary
examination. Stylish Bernie was found to have spike wounds to the left hind leg and stood down for 2 days. Chinatown Chief, no apparent
abnormalities. Punk Tastic, spike wounds to the left hind leg, stood down for 2 days. Admiral Bale, no apparent abnormalities. One
Wheel, grazes to the left hind leg, stood down for 2 days. Akka Boy, grazes to the left hind leg, stood down 2 days. Hellyeah Geoff, no
apparent abnormalities. Munich Monelli, no apparent abnormalities. **Due to the mechanical failure of the lure, all races were delayed
considerably with the start times for all races amended. After considering the No Race, Stewards abandoned Race 3 and acting in
accordance with GAR 57(2) a random draw was conducted of all greyhounds that competed in this event with Munich Monelli being drawn
as the greyhound to go through to the final
.

What do you guys think about those greyhound future chances? Do you think the guy on the news was right and they might not chase it now they know the lure isn't real?

INVISIBLEMAN 01-16-2010 01:49 AM

Paulyt, are you kidding how many times do ya think it happened, squillions In NZ they catch it aftre eveyr race

INVISIBLEMAN 01-16-2010 01:51 AM

paulyt one things is that they mighth look for it to pull up in the same place ... not good

jr44 01-16-2010 11:34 AM

and in trials they do fight backs lol and in queensland now i am pretty sure they get the lur after the race but like u say they may try pull up at same spot

INVISIBLEMAN 01-16-2010 01:05 PM

Havnt seen the footage but condifent most of the dogs willl be ok, in one ear out the other All dogs r different. Many dogs who say hit running rail heavily will remember it some never wanting to go past that point again on that track. They r all different.

Yeah that's why I was thinking, I was sure they caught it at the end and the of a race but I normally stop paying attention once they hit the line, especially if the dog I've backed hasn't won lol. I wonder where the newscaster got his info from to make him say that.

INVISIBLEMAN 01-17-2010 12:31 AM

Paulyt NZ is the only place they catch it in Australasia to my knowledge but dont take notice of me on this one Someone mentioned Qld? They trialled it in NSW, Dapto???? but I think it did not proceed Someone on here will no where they do and where they dont.

paulyt 01-17-2010 01:18 AM

I'm sure I've seen them catch it at the end of a race before. Maybe it was greyhounds from NZ or Queensland.

Just found this during a search to see where they do it.
Queensland First To Introduce NZ Style “Finish On” Lure Greyhound Racing Australia

Quote:

Albion Park will be the first Australian greyhound track to race with the New Zealand style “finish on” lure after Greyhounds Queensland has today announced it will introduce the new system effective 5th January 2009.

Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club and Greyhounds Queensland are delighted to be the first in Australia to introduce the “finish on” lure after a trial of the system, which has been running at Albion Park since September, was favourably received by all concerned and results were deemed successful.

Final phase testing involving full field trials will be run at Albion Park on December 15th.
