Blood Swabbing Started

queensland stewards took blood samples at albion park last thursday they urine swabbed 9 races and blood swabbed the two dead heaters for 1st in the last i hope now that all STATES in AUSTRALIA do blood swabs on a regular basis and i for one reckon if they do its a good thing cheers chub.:D:D

penny 12-07-2010 08:49 AM

well its going to be interesting if other states follow suit interesting times ahead.

Kyleigh 12-07-2010 09:24 AM

As far as I know mate tassie will never follow this has been discussed at length in the gag meetings and pretty much outcome everytime it ain't gunna happen

chub 12-07-2010 07:54 PM

well kyleigh if other states start blood swabs and tasmania doesnt i think there will be questions asked and i for one will be asking why
queensland has started and its up to ALL other states to do it if and i say if they are really concerned about the greyhound racing image and welfare cheers chub

Kyleigh 12-07-2010 09:38 PM

I suppose it comes done to what can be picked up in bloods as to urine and saliva we all know saliva is no good unless u pretty much gave ur dog something on the way to the boxes, but in saying this the never will happen has come from the top not gag reps

cheyenne 12-07-2010 11:39 PM

well it goes to show that taken a prerace bloob swab, dosent kill the dog. it has to be in all states ,now good on queensland, the stewards have raise the bar. they pre race every race that night.

well then perhaps the people at the top better explain WHY they dont want blood swabs is it PRICE or image or what they blood swabbed a horse in every thoroughbred race on 2/12/2010 so if its good enough for dog meat to be blood swabbed why not the ones that eat horses ????????????????????????? cheers chub.:D

Kyleigh 12-11-2010 03:12 PM

There is too much of a chance of a stuff up chub, that's why, saliva and urine swabs are non intrusive, where as blood clearly u are stcking a needle into a dog, anyone who has handled greys knows how hard they can be to handle especially if they don't want to do something, who's gunna hold thedog while it is done? All these things come into play especially at a track environment when the dogs canbe jittery at the best of times, alot of vets don't like it and won't do it

well when a dog needs a couple of stitches the vets have no hesitation in sticking a needle in a few times to sew them up so apart from going into a vein to get blood well if the vet doesnt want to do it get a vet that will do the job if we are concerned at all about welfare of the greyhounds why are so many against hmmmm the mind boggles cheers chub.

Kyleigh 12-11-2010 07:33 PM

I'm not against it, just curious as to how they will manage it, dogs are 9 times out if 10 given a local to be stitched up and holding them down still can be hard, but u are drawing blood not the same as stitching up, I don't think Queensland have actually started doing blood I think it was more so the fact that they were problem dogs and that was the only way to get the swabs in the end

cheyenne 12-11-2010 09:30 PM

well i took a dog to vet to have a blood test done, the vet put needle in vain in the leg an the dog didnt move.

Kyleigh 12-11-2010 11:36 PM

Yea but that isn't the track, different scenario

100% spot on

ive never seen a dog who dosnt no the diff between a race track and a vet

track= dog cant wait to go through the door
vet= dog dosnt want to go through the door

chub 12-12-2010 08:36 AM

ah well its the same okd thing fcuk the greyhounds well get as much as we can out of them dont worry about what some of them get chucked down their throats or injected into them (which is more dangerous sometimes than taking blood ) were not overly worried about welfare until it comes back to bite them on the bum dogs improving lengths all over australia and punted and most of the time not a thing done about it weak as piss cheers chub.

coops 12-12-2010 09:32 AM

I hope they don't blood test my dogs. I'm tring to keep what I give my dogs a secret.

coops

Kyleigh 12-12-2010 10:21 AM

chub I couldnt agree with you more, also the penalties when they are found guilty as far as I am concerned public trainers should loose there publics and it should open a way for the owners to sue them with neglect, you leave your dog in someones care and they juice them up, it crap, I think a lot of the rules are starting to get out dated now and they should be getting harder 3 strikes and your out for good look at the inquirey last week $1000 and people are complaining it was too hard, they should be grateful they didnt get suspended as well

chub 12-12-2010 04:55 PM

which enquiry was that kyleigh ? and coops you use what you want but you will probably run behind the ones with the good gear lol who may shite if they were to be blood tested cheers chub.

I have not yet seen or heard of a bad steward in NSW.

Infact they will come up to you, sit down and have a normal chat to you as a friend.
I have been officially cautioned by a couple and they do it in a polite manner.
I've got no problems wiff em.

well personaly stephen i think that its a bloody good thing and will give us well behaved trainers more of a chance against the big boys and hopefully it will boost peoples confidence in greyhound racing and give the sport a boost into the future especialy as over the last 5 years trainer numbers have dropped 18% in nsw

yes agree but it would seem that the ptb apart from urine samples they dont want to take blood if they want people in all states to bet on the product then get active and be seen to be doing something for the people and greyhounds in australia cheers chub.:D:D
