Help!!!!!!!!!!!! Greyhound Style
Hey all,
I'm a newbie to all this racing stuff. I've recently aquired a pup for the first time, I was wondering who if any of the trainers in SA would you recommend for me to speak to about training my bitch. Also I'm probably going to bring her up for a little bit but i think she will need the socialisation with other greyhounds so she doesn't become a woosie. Any who whatever you can tell me to point me in the right direction, and who are the dooshes on this site will be much appreciated Cheers |
We need more details, such as how old the pup is??
And yes you should try to find a rearing farm if it is a young pup, best to have it reared with other pups of the same age. Last thing you'd need to find is a trainer, if it's still only a young puppy, first thing you should do is place it with a good rearer. Go to a racetrack, look for the most successful trainers with beautifully turned out dogs, and ask them questions about where they had them reared or would they recommend a rearer. That's the only best way to do it, rather than trying to raise a puppy without a clue as to how to rear it appropriately. Are there anybody with greyhounds that you know of? If not, probably not a good idea in the first place to obtain a greyhound :-) as you really need to have someone that you can talk to and ask for advice in person about things that you need to know. Good luck in your venture! cheers P.S I've only been in the industry just a tick over 26 years, not counting the years my family have been in the dogs! :-) |
So love of my life. Only 26 years experiance, you are only new to the game hey.
Turbo me old fruit gum. There are no "Dooshes" on this site. There may be a few idiots, but no "Dooshes" coops |
The pup is yet to have its second vacinations, It is 10 weeks old, the breeders are being very helpfull with hints and tips into bringing her up but they are over 5hrs drive from metro adelaide so it is a bit hard to have them rear her and have some involvement which is what i would like to do. A friend has a bitch with Ken McAuley and he is very helpfull for him. (I dont have the pup for another 4/5 weeks).
Just looking for some ideas. |
