Naming of greyhounds

I've just had my prefix/suffix registered this month, due to someone 'stealing' my prefix/suffix recently!

For many years I've always used the Bluesky prefix/suffix, didn't bother to register it as the more my Bluesky dogs raced, the more people were aware it was my breed. Plus, who else would want to name their dog something like bluesky?? Maybe Blue Sky, but not bluesky.

But recently, I noticed there's a dog racing and winning in Victoria called Bluesky Dreaming.

What?? Bluesky??? It's so obvious that the owner has copied from one of my dogs that raced recently (bluesky megan, also blue sky libby, and I have a forum site called bluesky farm forum)

Now I am just curious as to why the owner would use the bluesky prefix/suffix to name his/her dog? Must really like the name a lot, huh? lol

Well after this month I won't be so worried about people taking my kennel prefix/suffix ;-) it was worth laying out a bit of money to register the name for 5 years, as it's kinda a sentimental special name which I would hate anybody else outside of my family to use.

Just like Ted Doss with his Osti breed, the Wheelers with their Bale breed etc etc

Sounds like a great idea registering the suffix no idea why someone else would use the bluesky name thought it seems a bit weird.

Doesnt seem like a coincidence that they happened to use your suffix.

Yeah exactly Morgan ;-)

We'll be naming Chooky bluesky something lol what are your ideas for a 2nd name?

Some of the dogs that raced years ago and won in city/town/country, included Bluesky Lass, Bluesky Angel, Bluesky Grace, Bluesky Queen (who I still have here as a house pet, planning to breed a litter with her later on next year before she gets too old) etc the ones that didn't win a race due to injury/or put down after a couple of starts, were Bluesky Moon and Bluesky Magic. I also sold Lord of Bluesky after breaking in for a five figure sum.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all! Hope you have a great day today and best wishes for 2009 with plenty of winners!
