Comments: I have heard a couple of good things about Marums such as there track which they still advertise as new but it is actually about 3 years old. Other than that I was recommended not to go with them however not all experiences are the same and am open to comments good or bad.

Many people dont have a nice thing so say about them, but i have nothing against them, there track is safe which is the main thing and they always seem to have alot of dogs there. I guess it depends what your after in the way of breaking in and what you expect. to be honest i think all comerical breakers are the same these days, they have such high intake of dogs they dont really give the dogs the perfect education and attention to detail.

personaly i use marums track to break my own pups in and i carnt fault him,but then again my dogs leave with me at the end of the day.

cheers and good luck

Thumbs up

From my experience,I have gone to marums to break dogs in
Its changed hands a few times in the last ten years but always
been a safe track to break pups in and trial a good race dog that you
dont wont to show up on racing track trials,
I have had dogs for 15 years and buy only 1 or 2 pups at a time and break them in myself,
I Give them plenty of free galloping up straight tracks to a sheep skin to 13/14months to they mature
Never sent dogs to marums to break in,but there always willing to help you
with fresh rabbits in there bullring or track,
The track is not narrow like some breaking tracks where i'have seen
pups come back from breakers with broken hocks
I recommend breaking dogs in yourself if your got the time and not too many numbers
All the best

Jazza, I am a first time user and therefore I am very uncertain of what I am doing. I hope I am not messing up. Anyway, did you find out anything about times at Lara. I am located a very long way from Lara and therefore not well placed to obtain reliable advice. For example, is 19.7 a good break-in time at Lara? I hope it is.

19.70 break in time??? flying....they say if you break 20.50 there as a break in you have something to work with.....i have a couple now who went 20.18 and 20.40 and both will win races....we broke one in there last year who went 19.74 and she is now a group 1 winner...do you have split times? the best response will come from allan marum himself as he knows his track very well but id be getting a little excited with 19.70 if i was you

i am a first time trainer and i use marums my self and i find it to be a nice track my dogs are runing 20 25 there and 7 13 first split over 345 so i am happy with them as they both were giveaways so i am still learning the ropes of the trade and taking it day by day. i now have to do some box work with one as she is sittin in the box and missed the start at the melton picinc meeting by 4 lengths. so anyway i do suggest if u ahve heard story about marums go adn see for ur self as i heard storys my self but i find it to be a nice soft track and there is veiwing box so your dog can watch other sogs go around it a nice place to trail.

Hey I have been working there for about 12-16 months now and I have been treated like a adult. Allen is the man that has thought me all that I know. He has aranged for me to become a handler and a catcher now. He teachers me the tricks of the trade and remember I am only 14.

Thanks Allen & Deb

Good on you Jake. Mate could you do me a favour and ask Allen or Deb (if you don't already know) what is the fastest 3 or so 400s ever run at Lara. I don't expect you or them to divulge who ran those times. I realise that the track is going to vary (like any other track and even more so because of the amount of use) and that the times themselves don't mean everything. I think the the 350 or whatever record is about 19.20, maybe you could confirm this also.

Young Jake has not got back to me about what are the fastest runs at Lara trial track over the 400. Does anyone else know. One of the Forum members has previously advised me authoritatively via private message about the 350 or so distance at Lara but does not have sufficient knowledge about the 400. Does anyone else on the Forum know what is the record at Lara over the 400 or if not, what a top grade city dog should run. The other Forum member suggested that Sky Hazzard has gone around there very quickly over the 400 but was not aware of the time. My information from another source is that Sky Hazzard has run 23.10 but I have very good reason to believe that others have gone faster. Can anyone help me on this matter. I was wondering whether dogs like Bo Frazier who I think is trained at Lara trial there. You would think he could go fast and that there would be others who would go faster.
