Cest Le Guerre will take some beating. Also anything Bart Cummings has in the race

Just cant understand why hes been given such a better chance than Master O this whole time.. Master O was the unlucky one, with a clear run he would have beaten C'est home, and he carried 1kg more, this year C'est has half a kg more to carry, and 1.5 more than last year...

Cest le Guerre was always a year off his best and lloyd williams said he will be a much better chance next year (said this before cup last year), and he still ran a good 3rd. 1 more year under his belt and he has come back in better form. With luck in running he will be the one to beat

Master Oreilly is a very good chance too but i personally prefer CLG

The Dermot Weld-trained Profound Beauty is out of the Melbourne Cup.

The Irish mare was due to go into quarantine on Thursday night but the mare’s owners have made a last-minute decision to keep the five-year-old in Europe to race.

“Moyglare Stud [owner] made the decision not to send Profound Beauty to Melbourne so she’ll be staying at home,” Mark Weld, son of trainer Dermot, told the Irish Times.

“The plan is to keep her in training next year."

The decision means Weld, the two time Melbourne Cup winning trainer won’t have a runner in this year’s Cup.

Last year Profound Beauty finished fifth in the race behind Viewed and she was the early pre-post favourite for this year’s race.

Righto ppl lets get this thread fired up..

For Coops - Viewed/ Efficient - ya know what your getting. Theyre outstanding 2 milers, and remember, the champs carry the weight.

However; Alcopop is a freakishly talented stayer with an irresistable swing at the weights. Although I said the champs carry it, the weight matters more over more distance, at the moment hes gotta be my pick.

Of the other two, I'm very confident Efficient has Viewed covered over 2 miles at the same weight.
