Default Do You Think My Pup Will Be Any Good?

So I've recently purchased a greyhound with a friend thats currently getting broken into. I'm fairly new to the greyhound scene, and I don't know too much about greyhounds. Ive got a female greyhound who I think comes from Surf Lorian (I think this is the name I heard, but then again I wouldn't bet on it) and a bitch from Token Prince who has won a few races(14k races or something, that is). I think one was up at Wenty. Out of all of the pups, this one has matured the fastest.

Does this sound like a good investment to you? I only did it for a bit of fun, but now with the dog breaking in, I was wondering $$$ wise whether this was a good investment. What are your thoughts? How much could we be expecting when our bitch makes a little of pups? Whats the $$$ like for a dog's first race assuming they come first, second, third? Thanks.

Kind regards,
Lyons8

It will be a good investment if it can run and will be a bad investment if it can't

But seriously no one could honestly tell you if the bitch will be anygood with the info you have given. Wait to see what the breaker says at the end of its education send it out for a spell bring it back into work and see what you have to work with

cheers
Rob

Thanks for the reply
If it isn't any good at the end of its education, what options do we have with the dog?

When you get it back from the breakers, give it 4 to 6 weeks rest then start working it again. You should have some idea if the dog is any good after about another 6 to 8 weeks work to find out.

Thanks for the reply. Will it be at a disadvantage if it is small?

Size means nothing when it comes to ability although i think its a advantage not to be too small but it doesn't stop some dogs.

AS coops said spell it bring it back and give 6-10 weeks to see if it has ability. Some dogs just need time although some are just legless.

G'day Lyon8, my view on the $ side of things is to kiss the $ goodbye!!! If you set out to have a bit of fun then try and let it just be that and if you make any money out of her than thats a bonus!! I hope your first experience in dogs is a good one and she wins lots of races for you!!!
