well then perhaps the people at the top better explain WHY they dont want blood swabs is it PRICE or image or what they blood swabbed a horse in every thoroughbred race on 2/12/2010 so if its good enough for dog meat to be blood swabbed why not the ones that eat horses ????????????????????????? cheers chub.:D

There is too much of a chance of a stuff up chub, that's why, saliva and urine swabs are non intrusive, where as blood clearly u are stcking a needle into a dog, anyone who has handled greys knows how hard they can be to handle especially if they don't want to do something, who's gunna hold thedog while it is done? All these things come into play especially at a track environment when the dogs canbe jittery at the best of times, alot of vets don't like it and won't do it

well when a dog needs a couple of stitches the vets have no hesitation in sticking a needle in a few times to sew them up so apart from going into a vein to get blood well if the vet doesnt want to do it get a vet that will do the job if we are concerned at all about welfare of the greyhounds why are so many against hmmmm the mind boggles cheers chub.

I'm not against it, just curious as to how they will manage it, dogs are 9 times out if 10 given a local to be stitched up and holding them down still can be hard, but u are drawing blood not the same as stitching up, I don't think Queensland have actually started doing blood I think it was more so the fact that they were problem dogs and that was the only way to get the swabs in the end

well i took a dog to vet to have a blood test done, the vet put needle in vain in the leg an the dog didnt move.

Kyleigh 12-11-2010 11:36 PM

Yea but that isn't the track, different scenario
