hello all, im back again. my bitch is about 6 months old now and doing well. i went to a well known pet store the other day and spoke with a man who recommended feeding my greyhound advance dry food. he said it has all the nutriion and vitamins a young greyhound needs. i have been feeding raw meat, with vegtables ect and with some not so expensive dry food. she has been doing well on it, i think anyhow. He explained to me that because i only have one dog that i should feed this dry food at 110 bucks a bag (cost is not a worry to me). he said that people with more than one dog often feed meat ect, just to keep costs down.
what is everyones opinion on this? thanks again |

whippee, forget the dry food, Stick with the raw meat. It has all the protiens that you need for growing pups. Yeah sure add a bit of the dry food with it for the little extra vitamins but the meat is important.
If I was a produce store and wanted to make a good profit I too would suggest the $110 bag as well. I have one dog and there is no way I would feed him completely dry food no matter what it costs, but thats me. I want the best for him and thats why I feed him Raw beef with added vitamins to make sure he gets the right amount of everything he needs. Thats my opinion. coops |

We feed the dogs 20-30kg red meat mixed with 10-20kg chicken mince and about 12-15 loaves of bread. Throw it all in the tub add a good amount of water and mix it all together so its a kind of slop i guess then feed about a pot or 2 full to each pup. It gives everything needed at this age. Make sure you give them alot. If you come back and they have eaten it all then give them a bit more. The more they eat the better

Also what are peoples opinions on feeding fresh roo meat. I've been of the opinion it is a bit to lean (not enough fat), but in the same not people religiously say turkey over chicken for the same reason. All dry food contains (fillers) and with the dry food make sure you have plenty of water around, the vege run off is a good idea to mix with the dry food to "soften" the buscuits for the pups. Weet Bix is good in the mornings but i recommend with puppy milk supliment instead of cow milk until atleast 4 mths of age. Hope this helps |
