Default How Do You Pick Your Horses / Dogs?

I just finished reading through a site dedicated to approaches to picking horses and betting. There was some good practical advice. A key point being to learn from races where you don't pick a horse in the finish eg what did you miss in your assessment and build it into to your method.

It started me thinking 'how different people arrive at their picks'. Love to start a discussion to understand the different approaches we use.

My approach is, get money, go to races, back dog and hope it wins.
