Hey coops, I see on thedogs they have starting prices...do they have a bookie betting on the non tabs? If they do that is very interesting....I guessing they wouldnt let you on for much

coops 03-05-2010 04:21 PM

Yes mate they do have a few bookies at non tab meetings.
They are not bad, they will let you lay what you want no probs.
I myself never back my own dogs. They cost me enough as it is.

17.20 for a maiden is clearly a TAB class run. How come start in non-tab if you dont mind me asking. Hell, 17.20 will win grade 5s too

Congrats on the performance though.

Morgan 03-06-2010 10:14 AM

Yep pretty happy with the time seeings the $10,000 dapto race was run in 17.05

Meet Results

coops 03-06-2010 11:49 AM

Fella's, fella's, now lets not get carried away here. The distance has a lot to do with everything. It takes a fast dog to run 17.05 over 300mtrs, coz it has no time to make any mistakes. The run has got to be absolutley perfect and anything chasing from behind has to be going twice as fast to pass it, whereas the 500 mtrs races the dog has a little more time up it's sleeve for a little mistake, but still again it can't afford to make a big mistake or it's got no chance.
Lady did ok because she did everything right and the dog in front of her also did everything right, except he got out of the boxes a little quicker and thats why he won it. If she is going to win a race over that short distance she has to repeat the same run as before and as you all know there is no garrantee on that.
The last thing that I need is for you to think she is going to be a good dog. She will hold her own in selected races in the country, but at this stage thats all she can do. Who knows, she may get to race and win on a TAB track, but she's not good enough at this stage.
I like the intrest you guys have in her and it's nice to have a forum dog that everyone can follow it's every moment in it's training and racing and I like giving it to you.
I just hope her races are safe ones no matter where she races and we all get enjoyment with her.

Morgan 03-06-2010 11:54 AM

Yep i was a little carried away but as you can see her time would have won most maiden races on the day.

coops 03-08-2010 09:08 PM

Dear Diary 8/3/10 purchased 2 new beaut beds for Lady and Bess today. Bess laid on it all day, Lady ate hers.@#$#%@

Dear Diary 10/3/10 wieghed lady this morning and found her to be a little lighter by .4 (22.8.) Have not changed diet or working conditions and I'm not sure why she lost the wieght. The only thing I can think of is the nights have been a little colder than they have been this week. I need her to be at least 23kg for tomorrow when she races at Dapto again. I gave her a full banana (I give the banana the day before a race to build up energy)with her breakfast this morning and an egg yoke. (I give that for extra protien) She was a little sore in the front O/S shoulder and N/S back leg muscle earlier in the week and she be ok tomorrow with that. I was just thinking to myself, that the little bit of wieght loss might have been something to do with her soreness. I'm just trying to grab at anything to justify that loss in wieght.
Anyway she is racing tomorrow at Dapto. Race 8 # 7.
I've also got my other dog Bess racing there as well Race 1 #4. She can't run out of sight on a dark night. But they might all be slower than her, who knows she might run a place or even better. Just slapped myself in the face to get back to reallity. Her name is Star Lifter.

I cannot be bothered checking, but what is the difference between a Dapto Maiden Non-Tab win and a Maiden TAB win in prize money

coops 03-10-2010 12:02 PM

Non-Tab $300. TAB $800.
Graded race $1050.

coops

Morgan 03-10-2010 12:17 PM

Less weight = more speed :)

coops 03-10-2010 12:29 PM

less wieght = no strength.

Morgan 03-10-2010 12:48 PM

Are you able to give her a light run today to see how she goes?

coops weigh yourself first thing in the morning 2moro, you will also be lighter

its just genetics everything is lighter in the morning after a sleep

next time your at the track during a day meeting (lunch time start) look at all the dogs weight changes, you will see neally all are up or down .5...i even seen a couple up 1.4

nothing to stress about mate

Morgan 03-10-2010 04:10 PM

Maybe she left you a .4kg surprise in your bed?

Might explain the smell

coops 03-10-2010 04:22 PM

Thanks Nick, I knew you would help me calm down.
See folks, there are people like Nick, Gippy and my girl Lilyflowerandroxy are only to pleased to help. How can you go wrong when you got these guys in your corner.

coops

Gippy 03-10-2010 04:56 PM

Good luck with her Coops!! Hope she begins like a bullet, pity she didn't draw the fence, I love quick beginners they give you a chance everytime!!! Nick is right about the weight issue to, I know how you feel though!! If she was 30kg you wouldn't worry so much, I reckon its because she's only small that its magnifying the issue for you mate. I love the Bannana and the egg yoke diet, always fed my dogs these, infact my bitch is due to whelp in a week and a half and thats what she gets for brekky 2-3 times a week along with wheatbix and milk!!
As long as 'The Bird' is healthy and happy she'll be doing her best, and I hope Bess does well also mate!!!

coops 03-10-2010 05:12 PM

Thanks Gippy mate. yeah your right about the size issue. i hope see clears the boxes ok and get out of harms way. She is so lightley framed but she's got a huge heart. it's going to be very hard for her to come from behind over that short distance, but she'll be having a go i know that for a fact.

As you probably gather, i'm getting a bit nervous coz i keep rambling on.

LILY, IF EVER I NEED YOU IT'S NOW.

coops

Morgan 03-10-2010 05:18 PM

She will be right Coops.

Hopefully she wins tomorrow then we test her next week in a Nowra TAB race.

coops 03-10-2010 06:30 PM

Ok Morgan.

LILY, WHERE ARE YA MY LOVE?
